Clark D. Gerhart, MD, FACS
Laparoscopic General/Bariatric Surgeon
Clark D. Gerhart, MD, FACS is a board certified general surgeon and fellow of the American College of surgeons.
In practice since 1995, he specializes in Minimally Invasive Surgery. This type of surgery uses small holes in the body instead of large cuts which produce much less injury to the body. The result is less pain, smaller scars and quicker recovery.x
A wide variety of medical problems can be treated using these advanced surgical procedures. Dr. Gerhart focuses on diseases of the gastrointestinal tract including gastro-esophageal reflux disease (GERD) or heartburn, intestinal and colon problems, such as cancer and diverticulitis, along with gallbladder and bile duct procedures, and abdominal hernias. Less invasive surgical treatments are also used for treating breast disorders such as cancer and fibroadenoma, and in the treatment of hemorrhoids.
As one of the few surgeons in the world to specialize in Adhesion Related Disorder, Dr. Gerhart helps treat patients suffering from chronic abdominal pain resulting from scar tissue from prior surgery, endometriosis, intra-abdominal infection, and other inflammatory diseases.
Dr. Gerhart has helped pioneer a new form of Minimally Invasive Surgery known as Hand Assisted Laparoscopy. This allows even the largest of operations to be performed laparoscopically so that patients requiring these operations can also experience the benefits of Minimally Invasive Surgery.
Dr. Gerhart has contributed to the medical literature with publications on new techniques in surgery. He also regularly instructs other physicians in these advanced procedures as a conference or seminar speaker or in the operating room as a proctor.
